Charles Jones Freed

Youngstown A memorial service celebrating the life of Charles Jones Freed will be held Noon Friday at the Lane Family Funeral Home, Anstrom Chapel, 8387 Tod Avenue in Boardman. Charles passed away Monday morning, September 7, 2015 at his home. He was born December 11, 1924 in Youngstown the son of the late Albert Edgar Freed Sr. and Florence Novello (Jones) Freed. Charles retired November 30, 1983 as a Central Office Repairman with Ohio Bell/ AT&T after 32 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Navy, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and its choir, the Masonic Lodge #766 in Poland, the St. David's Society where he was past president and the Order of the Amaranth where he was also past president. Charles leaves his wife the former Margery A. Matthews, whom he married October 22, 1950. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by one brother, Albert E Freed II and one sister, Catherine Melvin. Friends may call from 11AM until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request material tributes take the form of donations to the church in Charles' name.
