Youngstown- A memorial service will be held at Mahoning United Methodist Church on Monday for Charles L. Cornelius of Youngstown who passed away on Thursday at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. Friends may offer condolences beginning at 10 AM at the church. The service will be at 11 AM. Mr. Cornelius was born May 19, 1929 in Youngstown, a son of Ira and Myrtle (Barnett) Cornelius. He worked as an estimator for the Truscon Division of Republic Steel for thirty- four years, retiring in 1982. A 1948 graduate of Chaney High School, Charles was a four-year veteran of the U. S. Navy. Mr. Cornelius was a member of the Mahoning County Council for Retarded Citizens and a member of the Mahoning United Methodist Church for fifty-five years. He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay (Saunders) Cornelius, whom he married October 18, 1952: two daughters, Patricia (Lou) Geroni of Hamilton, OH., and Mary Jo (B.J.) Artrup of Coulumbus, OH. Three sons: Brian (Laraine) of Canfield, James of Mineral Ridge and Daniel (Donna) of North Canton. Seven grandchildren: Daniel and Mary Ellen Geroni, Erik and Claire Artrup, Paul, Elsie, and Elena Cornelius. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Max and Wilbur, and his sister Margaretta Deeter.
