Charles McGarvey, 77 Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel for Charles McGarvey, 77 of Berlin Center who died early Monday morning at Blossom Nursing Home, Salem. Charles was born December 31, 1940 in Youngstown, a son of the late Clifford and Madeline McGarvey and was a lifelong area resident. He attended East High School and served his country in the United States Navy. Charles worked as a pipefitter at General Motors, Lordstown for 30 years before he retired in 1982. He was a member of the Mount Moriah Lutheran Church, the Northeast Ohio Pidgeon Club and the Mahoning/Portage Beagle Club. He had raised beagles and also Hereford cattle. Charles leaves his wife the former Sherry Miller whom he married October 9, 1981; his four children, Christine McGarvey, David McGarvey and Keith McGarvey both in Florida and Amy McGarvey; nine grandchildren, including his grandson, Michael McGarvey, with whom he had a special bond. He leaves a step-son, Paul (Donna) Bowman of Canfield and their children, Stevie Mohn-Tubaugh, Jacob, Jess and Katie; a step-daughter, Pam (Lex) Murray of Salem and their children, Lex, Zachary and Allie and eight step-great-grandchildren that were a large part of his life. Charles also leaves a brother, Clifford (Laura) McGarvey and a sister, Madeline (James) Scarfo. Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a sister, Marlene Kratofil. Friends may call on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Lane Family Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to Mount Moriah Lutheran Church, 4626 South Pricetown Rd., Berlin Center, OH 44401
