Charles W. Cunningham

Charles W. Cunningham 67, of Brookfield, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening June 16, 2011 St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown. He was born on March 3, 1944 in Zelienople, PA the son of Paul K. and Ada J. (Frye) Cunningham. Chuck served Our Country in the United States Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. While overseas he served with the 3rd US Army as a light vehicle driver and was always proud of his privilege to drive the staff car during President and Mrs. Kennedy's visit in 1961. Following his discharge, he went on to marry the former Charlene Goehring on August 13, 1964 and would go on to share more than forty-six years of marriage and five children with her. Chuck loved hearing as well as making music and had belonged to the band "Melody Aces". He was an avid guitar player and had enjoyed collecting many of them over the years especially the Jazz Guitars he found while on EBAY. He also enjoyed spending time woodworking and was known to be a "Jack of All Trades" when it came to fixing and customizing things around his home. He is survived by his wife Charlene at home, five children Pamella Cunningham of Hubbard, OH Patricia Cunningham of Brookfield, OH, Charles Cunningham Jr. and his wife Lisa of Burghill, OH, Robert Cunningham and his wife Diana of Cortland, OH, and Kevin Cunningham and his wife Christina of Orwell, OH; his sister Mary Jane Brandstetter of Zelienople, PA; his seven grandchildren Steven, Shane, Riley, and Rogan Cunningham, Sean and Liam Long, and Zachary Cunningham; and by his beloved Boston Terriers Fanny and Poppi. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Brandon Cunningham, granddaughter Madison Cunningham, and four brothers Bob, Vince, Paul, and Michael "Tom" Cunningham. Calling hours for friends will be held on Monday evening June 20, 2011 from 5-8:00 PM at the Madasz Funeral Chapel in Brookfield, OH. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at Noon at the funeral home. Friends may also call one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Brookfield Township Cemetery where full military honors will be observed. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that any contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
