Clarence A. "Hopie" Hope

Fowler - Clarence A. "Hopie" Hope, 84, passed away Thursday evening January 10, 2019 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. Hopie was born on May 16, 1934 in Warren, OH, a son of the late Clarence C. and Mabel (Williams) Hope. He was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School in Warren. Before graduation, he served his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper in Korea. After his honorable discharge in 1955 he graduated from high school in 1955. Shortly after graduation, he married the love of his life, Patty Ann (Victor) Hope on September 15, 1956 and started their family. He worked at Packard Electric for 38 years until he retired. He was an active member of the Cortland Moose Lodge #1112 and a lifetime member of VFW post #7200 in West Farmington. He enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle, playing music on his guitar, organ, violin, banjo, and piano; bowling in leagues, traveling, and building cars, ultra light airplane, dune buggies, and his Model A Ford. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren. Hopie will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Patty Hope; his daughter, Sherrilyn (Alan) Peters; granddaughters, Carissa Ann (Ken) Urey and Stephanie Lynn (Jason) Slusher; great-grandchildren, Jackson Slusher, Rowan Slusher, and Kellan Urey; and his sisters, Joanne (Don) Wineman and Carol (Glenn) Stevens. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Larry A. Hope, who passed away June of 1989 and his brother in law Ronald Victor. Family and friends may visit from 5-7:00PM on Tuesday January 15, 2019 at Lane Family Funeral Homes Roberts Clark Chapel, located at 180 Garfield Dr. NE in Warren, and from 11-12:00PM on Wednesday January 16, 2019 with a service to follow at 12:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Memorial Park in Vienna, OH with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to VFW post #7200 of West Farmington or the Wounded Warriors Project.
