Commilla Mae Rich, 88 of Austintown, passed away Monday, September 23rd, at Hospice House of Poland, surrounded by her family. Commilla was born January 4, 1936 in Bainbridge, Ohio , a daughter of the late George W. and Bertha M. (Robinette) Hern and came to this area as a child.
She graduated from Austintown Fitch High School and had been an inspector for Packard Electric for 12 years. Commilla enjoyed doing puzzles, quilting and working in the garden. She looked forward to Masonic events with her husband and was a member of the Eastern Star Sunrise Chapter #458, Social Order of Beauceant #77 of Warren, and the International Order of Jobs Daughters. She was a member of the Ohltown United Methodist Church. Commilla was a part of anything her kids were involved in from being a PTA mom, football, baseball and a Girl Scout Leader. She was a caregiver her entire life , not only for her family, but even while living at the nursing home.
Her husband, David A. Rich, whom she married August 1, 1976, passed away on May 12, 2012. She leaves her children, Robin (Robert) Baldwin of Canfield, Michael (Gina Centofanti) Waldern, Christine (Steven) Sigley, Sandi Rich, Richard Rich all of Austintown, David Rich of Horse Heads, NY, Michael (Stevie) Rich of Millington, Maryland, Martha (Randy) Ankrom of Geneva, Ohio, Richard (Karen) Rich of North Jackson, Alisa (James) Pearson of Mogadore, John (Star) Rich of Monroe, NC, Frank (Angel) Rich of Stanley, NC and son-in-law, John Zell of Brookfield. She also leaves 33 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, Commilla was preceded in death by a daughter, Michelle Zell, daughter-in-law, Gloria Rich and sister, Helen Jane Darby.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5-6:45 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel followed by an Eastern Star service and Friday 10-10:45 am at the funeral home, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Humility House, Hospice of the Valley, and St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. From the dedicated team in the E.R. to those on the 4th floor, your exceptional care and compassion made a world of difference. Thank you for your support during this difficult time.
