Dale Owen Friend

Funeral services will be held at 7 PM Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel for Dale Owen Friend Sr., 79, of McDonald, who passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Shepherd of the Valley in Niles. Dale was born August 6, 1938 in Keeler Glade, WV., the son of Dayton and Olive (Herring) Friend. Dale worked as a Roll Turner with LTV and Copperweld Steel, retiring in 2004. He was also a member of the McDonald Volunteer Fire Department for more than 30 years where he served as an EMT, and was very involved with volunteer activities and fundraising until 2014. He attended Woodland Park Methodist Church. In his free time Dale enjoyed lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was a handyman and a jack of all trades. His wife the former Donna Kaye Rudge, whom he married in 1960, passed away July 15, 2005. Dale leaves one son, Dale Owen Friend Jr. and his wife Yunju of Pyeongteak, Korea, two granddaughters, Geena and Sunny, five brothers, Marvin (Louella), Ramon (Ginny), Larry (Linda), Gary (Nancy), and Darell (Donna), and five sisters, Barbara (Larry), Sandra (Richard), Linda (George), Janet (Tom), and Carol (Brian). Besides his parents and wife, Dale is preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald, Gene, and Charles. Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel where services will be held at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to either Shepherd of the Valley in Niles or Hospice of the Valley - Trumbull County in Dales name.
