Della Elaine (Lewis) Lucas, 88, of Howland Township passed away Saturday evening, April 2, 2011 in St. Joseph Health Center of natural causes and surrounded by her family. Della was born August 16, 1922 in Worthington, PA, the only daughter of the late William Finley and Della Celeste (Hilliard) Lewis. A retired school bus driver, Della worked for the Howland Local School system for many years as a bus driver. She attended the Bazetta Christian Church and belonged to the Morning Light chapter of the Eastern Star and also the Social Order of Beauceant. She enjoyed bingo, crocheting and most of all, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She married Jacob C. Lucas Jr. September 27, 1947. Together they shared 59 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on January 19, 2007. Della will be dearly missed by her children; Sandra (David) Hyde of Howland Township, Robert C. (Alberta) Lucas also of Howland Township and Cathy I. (Richard) Bowser of Champion, nine grandchildren; Belinda Ponikvar, Thomas Hyde, Jennefer (Thomas) Peters, Wendy (Steve) Stimpert, Keith Lucas, Mark Lucas, William Papp Jr., Gregory Papp Sr., and Michael Bowser and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and by two brothers Ronald Lewis and William Finley Lewis Jr. Family and friends may visit Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel and also Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The Rev. Paul Leone will conduct a funeral service Thursday morning, April 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Crown Hill Burial Park.
