Donald E. Friend, Mineral Ridge - Funeral services will be_11:00 a.m. Thursday at Lane Family Funeral Homes Mineral Ridge Chapel for Donald E. Friend who passed away early Monday morning at Hospice House of Poland. Donald was born October 26, 1943 in Leadmine, West Virginia a son of the late Willard and Virginia (Kisner) Friend. He was a car hauler for Anchor Motor Freight, Lordstown for over 30 years until he retired. Donald was a member of the Teamsters Union,and the Moose Club. He was an avid hunter and bowler and enjoyed watching NASCAR. Donald also loved his Harley and camping. His wife, the former Jan Gomola whom he married November 1, 1973, died March 24, 2013. He leaves to cherish his memory; two sons, Ronnie (Andrea) Friend and Kenny (Sherry) Friend both of Akron; three daughters, Kellie Nestor of Mineral Ridge, Janet (Terry) Woodard of Yukon, PA and Joyce (Adam) Branthoover of West Newton, PA; a brother, Terry Friend of Ohio; two sisters, Bonnie (Jim) Mays of Sutton, West Virginia and Cheryl Friend of Thomas, West Virginia. Don also leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly. Besides his parents and his wife, Don was preceded in death by a brother, Denzil Friend. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice in Donalds name. Friends may call from 4 pm until 7 pm Wednesday at the Lane Family Funeral Home Mineral Ridge Chapel.
