A memorial service celebrating the life of Atty. Donald P. Herriott, 73, will be held at 3 PM Sunday at the Canfield Presbyterian Church. Don passed away Wednesday morning, October 17, 2018 at UPMC Shadyside. He was born February 19, 1945 and grew up in East Palestine, OH, the son of William "Mac" and Mary (Ray) Herriott. Don had a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from Mt. Union College and worked as a chemist at Armstrong in Lancaster, PA for two years. Don went on to receive his Jurist Doctorate Law Degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA in 1974. He moved back to the area and became a partner with the Law Firm of Newman, Olson, and Kerr in Youngstown, retiring in 2005. Don was a member of Canfield Presbyterian Church and was an active member of the Canfield Rotary Club among other activities. Most recently Don enjoyed volunteering to read to the blind. He was a humble, hard-working person, always willing to listen and give a helping hand to anyone. Don was fun loving, always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. Don also enjoyed traveling, nature, reading , playing the guitar, and was very proud of his Scottish decent. Don leaves his wife of 48 years, the former Susan Hicks, whom he married August 8, 1970, one son Scott W. Herriott of Brooklyn, NY, and one daughter, Elizabeth (Daryl) Bell of Appleton, WI, four grandchildren, Nathan, Isaac, Charlotte, and Lydia Bell all of Appleton. Don also leave three brothers, Arthur (Polly) Herriott of Georgetown TX., Thomas (Laurel) Herriott of Bainbridge Island, WA, and Walter (Barbara) Herriott of East Palestine, OH, as well as his mother-in-law Marian Ellen Hicks, of Dover, OH, and two sisters-in-law, Marcia (Lloyd) Stuart of Dover, OH, and Lauren (Scott) Shelley of Easton, CT, and several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his father "Mac", his mother Mary, his father-in-law, William Hicks, and his sister-in-law Deborah Hicks. Friends may call from 2 to 3 PM Sunday at the Canfield Presbyterian Church where services will begin at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made in Dons name, to the Thomas E. Starzl Transplant Institute, 3459 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.
