Donna V. Mercer, 85 Salem: Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, 65 N. Broad Street, Canfield Chapel for Donna v. Mercer, 85 of Salem who died Tuesday evening at Salem Regional Medical Center. Donna was born January 30, 1929 in Hepburnia, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Herbert and Sidonia Zehner Spencer. She attended North Lima High School and had worked as a bookkeeper for Mercer Welding for over 20 years until she retired. Donna was a member of Calla Community Church, the Women's Missionary Society of the church, Green township Ladies Auxilliary of the Fire Department. She was a crafter and did many types of crafts including knitting, crocheting and quilting. She would donate many of these items to the needy. For over 20 years, Donna made preemie baby clothes for Touching Little Lives. Her husband, Charles whom she married December 27, 1968, died June 5, 1994. She leaves two sons, Daniel J. (Jackie) Weaver of Florida, Larry (Janet) Weaver of Salineville; one daughter, Clara D. Williams of Canfield; three sisters, Ruth Harmon of California, Betty Kellner of Columbiana, Laura Clark of Canfield; two brothers, Arthur Spencer of Connecticut, Al Spencer of Perrysburg, Ohio; four grandchildren, David Weaver, Jason Scott, Melinda Weaver, Wilbur Weaver; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Weaver and Emily Weaver. Besides her parents and her husband, Donna was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Snyder, Margaret Lyons, Edith Hasness; one brother, Herbert Spencer, Jr. and a granddaughter, Heather Scott. Friends may call on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Lane Family Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
