Doris Elaine (Whittenberger) DeShields, age 87, entered her heavenly home and into the arms of God on Friday, April 14th in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in 1930, the daughter of the late Orville and Margaret Whittenberger. She grew up in Youngstown, Ohio with her sister Evelyn (Reiss), and her brother Jimmy, who preceded her in death. She graduated from South High School in 1948, and was married to Walter C. DeShields in 1950. He preceded her in death in 1972. She will be greatly missed by their five children: Joyce Scisinger, Judy Pearce, Jeanette DeShields, Joan Popineau (Randy), and Walt DeShields (Penny), along with 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, her sister Evelyn and sister-in-law Nancy and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Baby Christopher DeShields, great-grandson also, preceded her in death. Elaine worked for Ohio Bell, Packard Electric, and AT&T, retiring in 1985. She was an active member of the Real Life Assembly of God Church and Women's Bible Study group, until she moved to Colorado in 2013. Elaine's family was the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of her faith in God, love of reading, and passion for watching her family play sports and serve God will live on. The service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00am, Friday, April 21st at Real Life Assembly of God Church, 12824 S Salem-Warren Road, Salem, Ohio, 44460, with Reverend Randy Popineau officiating. Burial will take place at Grandview Cemetery, Sebring, Ohio. "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die" John 11:25.
