Doris M. Muir

Doris M (Byers) Muir, 86, passed away Wednesday morning, July 14, 2010 at Briarfield Care Center in Mineral Ridge. Doris was born January 11, 1924, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Vern and Gertrude (Lyford) Byers. Doris is the oldest of 4 children. Doris was a homemaker, who dedicated her life to raising her 3 children, 2 grandchildren (Mike and Michelle) and 1 great grandson (Zachary). She attended Evansville Baptist Church. During her stay at Briarfield she served as a Resident Activities Volunteer. On October 18, 1944, Doris was united in marriage with Thomas R. Muir, and shared 55 years together. Thomas passed away in May 1999. She is survived by three sons, Richard (Susan) of Mineral Ridge, Robert (Nancy) of North Carolina and Jerry (Paula) of Mineral Ridge; three sisters, Norma Taylor of Salem, Donna Albright of Florida and Ruth Byers of Niles. Doris also leaves behind ten grandchildren and fourteen great- grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Nurses and staff of Briarfield in Mineral Ridge for their kindness and care provided to Doris during the past year. Family and friends are welcome to attend a Memorial Service that will commemorate Doris' life on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 6:00 pm at Lane Funeral Home (route 46) in Mineral Ridge. Interment will take place at a later date at Greenhaven Cemetery in Canfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the family, in order to purchase entertainment equipment for the Activities Department of Briarfield, in memory of Doris.
