Dorothy E. Spadin, 92 of Masury, died Wednesday morning, July 18, 2018, at Sharon Regional Hospital. She was born May 8, 1926 in Masury the daughter of the late John and Mary Turk Zele. She has been a lifetime Masury resident. Dorothy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sharon. She was a member for many years of the Slovene National Benefit Society (SNPJ). Dorothy loved cooking and baking and was an avid homemaker all of her married life. She loved making potica (nut rolls) and krofe and other Slovinian desserts as well as tasty apple pies and brownies. She was dedicated to her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband of nearly 63 years, Louis E. "Gene" Spadin, whom she married June 7, 1947 preceded her in death February 12, 2010. One son, Thomas E. Spadin died in 2004 and three sisters, Tillie Korbar, Mary Bitenz and Annie Zele also preceded her in death. Dorothy is survived by three sons, Richard (Fran) Spadin of Waterloo, Iowa, Robert (Kathy) Spadin of Masury and Mark (Christine) Spadin of Middleburg Heights; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren and one sister, Christine "Tina" Paulenich of Sharon. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Madasz Chapel in Brookfield, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday. The Rev. Thomas Whitman will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Hermitage.
