Dorothy Irene Rider

Funeral services celebrating the life of Dorothy Irene Rider will be held at 11 AM Friday, March 8, 2019, at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel. Dorothy passed away Monday evening, March 4, 2019 at Trumbull Regional Hospital at the age of 86. She was born June 24, 1932 in Westmoreland, PA., the daughter of David A. and Irene (Happel) Dudgeon. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Dorothy was a homemaker, she also worked cleaning homes and taking care of children to help others. She was a member of Bailey Road Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday School Teacher for many years and a member of the Awanas. Dorothy was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved the holidays and was known for her homemade buckeyes and fudge. Her husband Robert J. Rider, whom she married in 1955, passed away in March of 1992. Dorothy leaves her son Bruce Rider and his wife Cheryl of Newton Falls, two grandsons, Corey Rider and his wife Renee of Newton Twp. and Richard Rider and his fianc Ashley King of Warren, as well as two great grandchildren, Brooke and Baylee. Besides her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers, and two sisters. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM Thursday and again from 10 to 11 AM Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel where services will begin at 11 AM.
