Dorothy L Shank

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, at St. Stephens Cemetery, for Dorothy L. Shank formerly of 47 S. Salem-Warren Road North Jackson, who passed away Tuesday at Briarfield Ashley Circle Nursing Home. Mrs. Shank was born November 2, 1919, in Geisetown PA., the daughter of Walter and Bertha (Lulay) Lauer. She was an avid reader, story teller, crafter, an expert needle woman and a great cook. She was a member of Girard Sr. Citizens, Ladies of Charity and volunteer worker at St. Elizabeth Hospital and a former 4-H Leader, school cafeteria worker, girl scout troop volunteer and a member of the North Jackson PTA. She is survived by her children Sara McMillan of North Jackson, Patricia Davis of Girard, Katherine D. Carl of Parker AZ., Walter G. Shank of Youngstown, Michael J. Shank of Niles, Victoria Lockaby of Kerns UT. , and Valerie Rader of Girard, sister Rose Mary Lauer of Girard, 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband George H. Shank whom she married on September 20, 1941 and who died on February 25, 1963, a daughter Denise C. Johanson and two grandsons Robert Johanson and Ian McMillan. Memorial tributes may be made to the local Red Cross.
