Dorothy Lloyd Hood passed away on September 26th, just 10 days before 101st birthday. Born on October 6, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Marie and Armour Lloyd. After graduation from Austintown Fitch High School, she attended Ohio Wesleyan University. She married her high school sweetheart, Harold Sanford Hood, in 1941. They were married for almost 50 years until his death in February 1991. Her life revolved around her family. For years, she managed the business office of Lloyd Packing Company, founded by her father. Dorothy was devoted to her five nieces and nephews, Melinda Lloyd of New York, Philip Armour Lloyd II (Peggy) of Akron, Lisbeth Lloyd (Gene Jones) of Katonah, New York, Paul Maloney (Debra) of Pompano Beach, Florida, and Karen Maloney of Deland, Florida. She could not have loved them more if they had been her own. She was preceded in death by her sister Marguerite Lloyd Maloney and brother Robert and sister in law Blanche Lloyd. Faith was a mainstay in her life, and her positive attitude was an inspiration to many. She was a lifelong member and served as a former Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Mineral Ridge. Funeral services will be held at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel on Monday October 2nd at 2pm where friends may call from 1pm until time of services. Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Dorothy's memory.
