Dr. James Stanley Paris, 83, of Canfield, passed away early Sunday morning, December 8, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Mercy Health Medical Center in Youngstown.
Born in Youngstown on August 2, 1941, Dr. Paris was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Kwienski) Paris. He was a lifelong resident of the area, graduating from Struthers High School in 1959, where he excelled in football. He went on to play football at the University of Cincinnati, earning his Bachelor’s degree and later being inducted into the Hall of Fame for both his high school and college football achievements.
Dr. Paris graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1968. He spent over 38 years as an osteopathic physician in Youngstown, retiring in 2005.
In his personal life, Dr. Paris was a man of many interests, including boating on Lake Erie, golfing, and woodworking. He was a devoted husband to his wife, the former Joyce Ellen Mohr, whom he married on October 15, 1960. Together, they raised a family. Dr. Paris is survived by his children: Janene (Dr. Daniel) Fitzpatrick of Howland, Jennifer Kutsch, James S. (Carrie) Paris Jr., and Jason (Amanda) Paris, all of Canfield. He also leaves behind 10 beloved grandchildren: Dr. Maura (Zac Parent), Joseph, Michael, Robert, Emma, Anna, Jason, Ava, Matea, and Makenzie. Above all, family and legacy were of utmost importance to him.
He is survived by his sister, Jean (Dr. Thomas) Macejko of Cincinnati.
