Dr. Koteswara R. Kaza, 80, of Boardman, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019, at home surrounded by his family. Dr. Kaza was born July 1, 1938 in Chinaparupudi, Andhra Pradesh, India, the son of the late Prakash Rao and Krupavathamma Kaza. Dr. Kaza earned his Doctorate of Medicine in Psychiatry from Rangaraya Medical College. Upon graduation he taught at Osmania Medical College. He came to the United States in the early 1970s and began his residency in Psychiatry at the Manhattan Psychiatric Center. In 1979 he came to Youngstown and began his career at Lisbon Mental Health Clinic where he worked for twenty years. Dr. Kaza began his own practice in the early 1990s. He opened his first office in East Liverpool and went on to also open offices in Austintown and Salem. He also provided care at Turning Point. Dr. Kaza retired in December of 2018. Dr. Kaza was a member of the American Psychiatric Association. He loved to work and travel. He is survived by his wife, Leela (Boppana) Kaza, whom he married May 28, 1964; his sons Ravi Kaza of Connecticut and Sasi Kaza of Akron; his sister Jhansi Laxmi Surapaneni of Canada; and two nieces. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Sayegi Rao, Giridhar Rao, and Nageswara Rao. A puja will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 5:00 PM at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Avenue. Friends may call from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
