A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM Saturday, November 12, in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for Dr. William R. Convery, 73, of Austintown who passed away Friday November 4, at the Cleveland Clinic. William was born July 29 1938 in Lakehurst New Jersey, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Stokes) Convery. He graduated in Western New Mexico University in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts, Major in Secondary Education. In 1963 he received his Master of Arts, majoring in Counseling and Guidance from Western New Mexico University, and in 1967 William received his degree in National Defense Education Act Institute from San Diego State University. In 1969 he received his Doctorate of Education in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Wyoming. William retired as a Professor at Youngstown State University. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, a member of the Masons, and a member of the American Legion. His hobbies included golfing, skiing, reading and collecting Civil War Artifacts. His wife the former Eva Simmons whom he married July 10, 1960, passed away in 2009. William leaves two sons Brian Convery of Columbus and Shawn Convery of Austintown, two brothers, George Convery of Thomsriver N.J. and Joe Convery of Jackson N.J., one sister Margie Reynolds of Thomsriver, N.J. and two granddaughters, Chiara and Sarah, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, William is preceded in death by a brother Jim Convery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Friday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel where closing prayers will begin at 9:30 AM on Saturday.
