Edgar M. "Skip" Root, 91 of Cuyahoga Falls, died Wednesday evening, January 30, 2019, at his home. He was born December 3, 1927 in Johnston Township, the son of the late Fred and Estella Hall Root. He and his wife had been Champion Township residents for many years, recently moving to Cuyahoga Falls to be near their family. Skip served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 2nd Class during World War II. He retired in 1991 as a millwright at American Welding & Mfg. Company in Warren, after 40 years service. Skip was a longtime member of Champion Christian Church. He was a member of the Johnston Bailey Barto VFW Post. He enjoyed gardening, and especially liked growing blueberries. He was well known for his blueberry pies. Skip also loved to travel with his wife, Ann. He is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Ann Root, whom he married June 3, 1950; one son, Ronald (Patricia) Root; three grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Brown, Kevin (Patrice) Root and Chris (Katie) Root, five great grandchildren, Kai and Isla Brown and Riley, Elliot and Jameson Root and one sister, Midge Harshman. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time. Pastor Ken Hopkins Jr. will officiate. Entombment will be in the Pineview Memorial Park mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund at the Champion Christian Church, 151 Center St.. West, Warren, OH 44481.
