Edith A. “Edie” Sternburg, 83, of North Lima, formerly of Ellsworth, passed away Tuesday evening at the Inn at Glenellen, due to complications of dementia.
Edie was born on August 31, 1941, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late James LeRoy and Helen Lucille (Seal) Wilson. A lifelong resident of the area, Edie was one of the first dispatchers for the Ellsworth Fire Department before the implementation of 911 services. She was a devoted homemaker who cherished spending time with her family and friends, and she especially enjoyed celebrating birthdays, holidays, and family nights filled with pizza and card games. Edie also loved to travel, creating cherished memories along the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Harold Sternburg, whom she married on September 9, 1958, and who passed away on June 12, 2012. Edie is survived by her two children, Robert (Dorinda) Sternburg of Green Twp. and Linda (Kenneth) Hernan of Ellsworth; three grandchildren, Andrew Sternburg, Marissa Sternburg-Hartman, and Sarah Hernan-Thompson; and two great-grandchildren, Colton Hartman and Vaughn Thompson. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Stafford in Germany. Edie was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Bruce and Eileen Miller, as well as two brothers, Kenneth Wilson and Larry Wilson.
Friends may call on Tuesday, December 10th, from 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at Lae Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel,followed by a Celebration of Life service at 5:00 p.m.
