Edward George Allen

A memorial service will be held 10 AM Saturday July 9, 2016 in the Chapel at Calvary Cemetery for Edward George Allen, 59 of Canfield, formerly of Girard, who passed away Monday June 27th at his home. Ed was born September 15, 1956 in Youngstown, the son of Chester Lloyd and Sophia Mary (Pinter) Allen. He was a graduate of Youngstown State University with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and had worked as a corrections officer for Trumbull County Institution for 18 years until August of 2015. Prior to that Ed worked security for the Youngstown Vindicator. He served in the U.S. Air-Force and was a member of the American Legion in both Girard and Canfield. Ed was a catholic and attended St. Patrick Church and St. Edward Church in Youngstown. He was also a member of the YSU Alumni Association. Ed enjoyed watching all sports, he really enjoyed horse racing and auto racing. Ed leaves his longtime companion Shawna Marstellar with whom he made his home, two sisters, Marlene O'Neill of Girard and Joann Miskovch of Howland, two brothers, Richard Allen of California and Donald Allen of Youngstown, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Ed was preceded in death by one brother Chester Allen and one sister Mary Lou Allen. The family and friends will gather at the chapel in Calvary Cemetery for a memorial service on Saturday July 9 at 10 AM. Arrangements were entrusted to the Lane Family Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel.
