Edward L. Neff

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 12th at The Canfield United Methodist Church for Edward L. Neff of West Main St. in Canfield who passed away early Saturday morning at home. Mr. Neff, best remembered for his story telling, was born August 17, 1912 on East Main St. in Canfield, the son of Roy J. and Laura (Noll) Neff. He was a descendent of Conrad Naff, a pioneer of the Western Reserve. Edward graduated from Mount Union College in 1934. He was a member of the Canfield Fire Department, Canfield City Council, a co-sponsor of the Canfield Kiwanis, and started the Canfield Little League. Edward was a Navy lieutenant in WWII on LST 712. Edward was a partner in The Neff Company, a plumbing and electrical firm. He served as Past President of the Youngstown Association of Plumbing Contractors. He was a 57-year member and Sunday School President at the Canfield United Methodist Church as well as a 23-year member of the Faith Presbyterian Church in Sun City Arizona. He loved golf, gardening, and the Phoenix Suns. Mr. Neff leaves a daughter Nancy Jo Neff of Phoenix, AZ., a son Bruce Neff of Canfield, and a brother Robert H. Neff of Del Ray Beach, FL. He also leaves eight grandchildren: Michael Neff of Tallahassee, FL., Sharon Jeffers of Evergreen, CO., Cassandra Harris of Phoenix, AZ., Hannah Neff of Amherst, MA., Katra Neff of Denver, CO., William and Rosa Neff of Levertt, MA., and Helen Ann Neff of Canfield. Edward also leaves 2 great-grandchildren: Alex and Veronica Harris of Phoenix, AZ. His adored wife of 59 years, Martha (Cummings) Neff whom he married June 22, 1940 passed away on June 13, 2000. Two sons, Gary R. and Edward R. Neff, a granddaughter Kristen Neff, and two brothers, Richard and Charles Neff are also deceased.
