Warren – Elaine “Mum” Sawyer Hileman, 95, passed away Tuesday December 31, 2024 at Mercy Health Hospice House by Compassus in Poland with her loving family by her side.
Elaine was born on May 20, 1929 in Warren, OH a daughter of the late Dr. James W. Sawyer and Mildred B. (Fitch) Sawyer.
She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1947, where she was a cheerleader and part of their first class to graduate.
On May 20, 1950 she married Robert G. Hileman, and had seven children together. She worked as a dental assistant at her father’s office in the Robbins Theater Building and continued to work for Dr. Martuccio for 23 years until she retired in 1982.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warren and Mothers of Twins where she served as a former secretary.
She enjoyed gardening, watching and feeding the birds and squirrels, and taking trips to New York city with her daughters. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Elaine will be deeply missed by her loving children, Lawrence Hileman, Thomas (Jean) Hileman, Robert Hileman, Janet (Frank) Ellis, Lorri Palac, and Linda (James) Fittipaldo; grandchildren, Rob (Logan), Jessica (Justin), Lauren (James), Thomas (Colleen Brown), Jason (Jessica), Dawn (Pete), Sawyer (Paige), Austin (Andie Simon), Frank (Karen), Marci (Adam), Natalie (Sean), and Kalyn (Josh); great-grandchildren, James, Meredith, Hayden, Rowan, Silas, William, Maxwell, Joey, Bobby, Bruce, Ian (Taylor), Olivia, Cecilia, Logan, Blake, Brooks, Lofton, Lorren, Ellie, Cohen, Easton, Joshua, and Ajay; great-great-grandchild, Jesoni; and sister, Roselyn (Edmond) Fiore.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Hileman; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Hileman; brothers James and Tom Sawyer; and sister Marilyn Reid.
Family and friends may visit from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025 at St. Theresa of Calcutta Parish, St. Mary Church located at 232 Seneca Ave. NE in Warren. A memorial mass will follow at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will take place at Pineview Memorial Park in Warren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, St. Mary Church in Elaine’s memory.
