Elizabeth Betty Thaxton

Elizabeth J. "Betty" Thaxton, age 85 of Cortland, Ohio, died on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 2:25 AM at Lake Vista. She was born on May 31, 1928 in Weathersfield, Oh, the daughter of the late Frank Torok and Stella (Sudol) Torok. Betty was a head teller at the Cortland Bank for thirty three years. She was a member the Cortland United Methodist Church for over fifty years, Rebecca Lodge, and Eastern Star. Some of her interests included traveling, bowling league at Cortland Lanes, and spending time with her family and grandkids. Survivors include her children, Gary (Robin) Thaxton of Jefferson, and Patricia (Michael) Hill of Cortland; four grandchildren, Chris (Anita) Lewis, Rick Thaxton, Tyler Thaxton, and Josh Hill; one great-grandson, Conner Lewis. One sister also survives, Rose Denman of Cortland. Other than her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lewis "Louie" Thaxton on October 29, 1982, they were united in marriage on October 27, 1946 Funeral services will be held at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, at 11:00AM Wednesday , September 18, 2013. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Betty will be laid to rest next to her husband, Richard Lewis Thaxton in the Hillside Cemetery in Cortland.
