Elizabeth Lou "Bette" Szuch

Elizabeth Lou “Bette” Szuch, age 83, of Niles passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024. She was born on September 15, 1940, to the late George Takach and mother, Genevieve Molek. Bette was a graduate of Champion High School. In 1958, Bette and her late husband, Louis, were married in Warren where they raised their two children. They were married for 62 years.

She was employed by Howland Local Schools as a secretary at Howland Springs Elementary for 21 years, retiring in 2003. Some of her most cherished moments were spent with the children, staff, and parents at the school. Many special friends were made along the way.

She was an avid crafter who enjoyed Stampin’ UP. Her other hobbies included gardening, traveling, and decorating, especially with antiques. She also served on committees for Trumbull Town Hall. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who lit up a room with her smile. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Her family will miss her love, laughter, and spunk.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Szuch; mother, Genevieve Molek; brother-in-law, Robert Szuch. 

She is survived by her children, Jeff (Kim) Szuch of Charleston, SC and Kelle (Bill) Cohol of Niles; grandchildren, Eric (Jamie) Szuch of Charleston, SC and Dael Szuch of Atlanta, GA; stepbrother, Fred (Barb) Molek of Bristol Township; brother-in-law, Donald (Dianne) Szuch of Cortland; and sister-in-law, Barb Szuch of Machesney Park, Illinois,  and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude PL Memphis, TN 38105.  

Calling hours will be held 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Lane Funeral Roberts-Clark Chapel 180 Garfield Dr. NE Warren, OH 44483 with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 PM. Online condolences can be made at www.lanefuneralhomes.com.
