Elvira F. Balestra

Elvira Francisca Venera Giamboi Balestra, 93, returned to her heavenly home on August 6, 2018. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her and ultimately gave her peace. Elvira was born to the late Carmello and Maria Giamboi, in Rome, Italy on November 12, 1924. She met her late husband, Ralph Balesta, while he was serving as an American soldier in World War II; they settled and began their life together in Youngstown, Ohio. To carry on Elviras legacy are her daughters, Maria Koby and Annamaria Phillips; she is also survived by six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son Patrick Balestra. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Dominic Parish, 77 East Lucius Ave, Youngstown, 44507, at 10:00 am on Friday, August 17, 2018. In lieu of flowers, it would be a great honor, on behalf of the deceased, to receive donations to her home parish of St. Dominic.
