Emogene "Jo" Ditzler

Emogene (Jo) Ditzler passed away Monday April 9, 2018 at her home with her family by her side. Jo was born June 20, 1928 in Youngstown daughter of the late Luigi and Grace (Kennedy) Louis. She graduated from The South High School in 1947. "Jo" retired in 2009 after more than 50 years at Peoples, Lane, and Rite Aid Pharmacy in Cornersburg. She was a kind and caring person who had a special way with people, and is still fondly remembered by everyone in the Cornersburg area. Whatever the occasion, if there was a greeting card made for it, you could receive it from "Jo". She always had one or more pens in her hair: either to take down an address who she needed to send a card to, or to write down a thought for the next poem she was writing. She always had her work coat lined with her Indians or political pins and was an avid Cleveland fan. Jo was a member of Christ Church United Presbyterian in Cornersburg. She served as an elected Democrat Precinct Committee-Person for 20 years, and enjoyed working every election at her precinct. She was a regular at every Austintown Trustees meeting, never missing one of her son Davids meetings in over 15 years. She loved all her 500 Card Club ladies, Donna, Clarice and Nancy whom she had more than a 70 year friendship with and Wilma, Carol, and Betty over 50 years. Jo was married to Charles Ditzler July 26, 1952 who passed December 4, 1991. Besides her parents and husband, Jo was preceded in death by her brother Victor Louis. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Nancy Ditzler, and her son David and wife Jenny (Streeky) Ditzler all of Austintown, and sister-in-law Lee Louis, along with numerous nieces and nephews and her best friend Macy. Family and friends may call from 4-7pm Thursday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel with a memorial services to follow at 7pm. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Mike Devine, Antonine Sisters, Hospice of the Valley and Comfort Keepers for their care and compassion during this difficult time. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to "Angels for Animals" or "Hospice of the Valley"
