On Monday morning, June 18, 2018 Ernest Matthew "Ernie" Milone's struggle with cancer came to an end at Autumn Hills in Niles. He was 71 years old. Ernie was born September 15, 1946 in the Bronx, New York City, one of the seven children of the late Angela Scimeca and Matthew Milone. The family moved to Warren where Ernie and his siblings grew up. He was a member of Warren G. Harding's graduating class of 1964. After graduation Ernie enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served his country honorably. Ernie was a skilled electrician and a longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, retiring in 2000. Ernie maintained a lifelong love for California, visiting and residing there at various times during his life. As an electrician, he lent his talents to the improvement of several of the state's parks. Ernie was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns, he had many interests including music, motorcycles, and customizing vintage VW Beetles. He also collected rare coins and stamps. Ernie also loved his many feline friends, devoting himself to their health, safety, and happiness. Ernie was kind and generous to all and his memory will be cherished by his many friends and family members. He leaves behind a son, Michael; three grandchildren; four of his brothers Paul, Tony, Matt, Donnie; a sister Marilyn; many nieces and nephews, as well as his lifelong friend and Navy buddy Wayne Pata. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank. Cremation has taken place per Ernie's wishes. A celebration of Ernie's life is being planned by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Ernie's memory to any of the local animal protective agencies.
