Ethel Gray

Ethel Burkett Gray, 91, of Athens, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018. Born April 3, 1927 in Knox Township, Pennsylvania, she was the youngest of nine children to Godfrey Burkett and Cathryn Hartman Burkett. She came to Youngstown in 1941 and graduated from Chaney High School in 1944. Following her graduation, she worked in Youngstown for many years as a Medical Assistant. She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Ashley B. Gray, the two were married in 1949. Also preceding her in death were all of her brothers and sisters, Nelle Gahagan (John), Dorothy Neal (Clayson), Lee Burkett, Ray Burkett, Homer Burkett, Emory Burkett, Cy Burkett and Eugene Burkett. She is survived by her son, Bradley Gray (Donna); daughter, Pamela Swallom (Lynn); grandchildren, Lisa Malooley (Louis), David Thompson (Danyelle) and Aaron Gray (Jenna); five step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Ethel will be laid to rest beside her husband at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
