EUGENE R. "Dancing Gene" TAYLOR, 84 SALEM-There will be Services at 11 a.m. Monday at Lane Family Funeral Homes-Austintown Chapel for Eugene R. Taylor, 84, who passed away Wednesday morning at Salem East Health Care. Gene was born April 26, 1934 in Leetonia, the son of Homer F. and Beulah A. (Dickson) Taylor. Gene was a Mechanical Engineer with C.F. Simmers Co. and then was employed with Trucut. He was a 1952 graduate of Greenford High School. Gene was a member of Greenford Christian Church. Genes family was his life. He enjoyed Polka dancing with his wife and never missed his sons and grandkids sporting events. He was instrumental in starting Little League Football in South Range School District and coached baseball for Greenford Ruritan Club. He enjoyed watching his sons compete in Drag Racing and Dirt Track Racing. Gene also enjoyed building train sets and showed Ponys at the Canfield Fair. He was a talented woodworker and helped build several homes. Gene was also involved with various activities with the Boy Scouts. Gene is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Eileen M. Schrum; his sons, Mark E. (Karrie) Taylor of Greenford, Daniel R. (Vicki) Taylor of Warren and Keith A. (Barbra) Taylor of Beloit; his grandchildren, Kara (Alex Polit), Brayton, Jordan (Kate) Taylor and Julie (John) Gavin; his step-grandchildren, Joseph (Katie) and Justin Barnett and Brett and Matt Allen; his great-grandchildren, Calvin Taylor and Patrick Gavin; his step-great-grandchildren, Aiden and Cameron Barnett and four great grandchildren on the way. Gene was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and 10-11 a.m. on Monday, prior to the Service.
