Francis "Frank" Aprea, 69 Private services were held Saturday, June 25, 2016 for Francis Aprea, 69 of Canfield, who passed away Wednesday evening at Hospice House of Poland. Francis, known as Frank, was born October 10, 1946 in Manhattan, New York, a son of Silverio and Filomena Cappuccio Aprea. Frank graduated from Fordham University, Bronx, New York and served his country in the U.S. Army. From 1982-2002, he was treasurer and then trustee for the Board of Employees' Pension Fund of Essex County. He had worked as a chief accountant for the Board of Education in Newark, New Jersey for 25 years before retiring and coming to this area in 2002. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Austintown. Besides his wife of almost 36 years, the former Minerva Ortiz, whom he married June 26, 1980; he leaves his mother, Filomena Aprea of Long Island, New York; his son, Matthew Aprea; his daughter Alyssa Aprea both at home; and a brother, Salvatore Aprea of Long Island, New York. Frank was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Gerard Aprea. He was a devoted husband, loving father, uncle, brother-in-law and a very kind person to everyone and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice House for their compassionate care given to Frank.
