AUSTINTOWN-Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday at the Austintown Community Church for Mr. Fred M. Davis of Pinecrest Drive who died at his residence Sunday evening. Mr. Davis was born April 4, 1932 the son of Benjamin and Myrtle (Shilling) Davis in Youngstown. Fred served in the Air force during the Korean War and then worked for 35 years at the East Ohio Gas Company retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Austintown Community Church staying very active in the “Brunch Bunch” there, a member of the American Legion, the Faternal Order of Eagles Lodge #213, the Lowellville Senior Citizen’s Club and he was an avid Square Dancer. Fred is survived by his loving wife Mary (Sokol) Davis whom he married in 1989 and preceeded in death by a former wife Joanne (Heller) Davis whom he married in 1954 and died in 1987. Mr. Davis is also survived by 4 sons Greg Davis of Diamond, Ohio, Jeff Davis of Austintown, Larry Davis of Canfield and Scott Davis of Austintown. He also leaves 3 step children Lorraine Cline of North Carolina, Lynn Carter of Poland and Jim Mehle of Struthers. And, 4 sisters Jean Volinsky of Youngstown, Lillian Diamond and Betty Jeager of Vienna and Barbara Kennedy of Medina and 13 grand children. Along with his 1st wife he is preceeded in death by a sister Wanda Woodworth and a brother Bill Davis. The Davis family requests that material contributions take the form of donations to hospice of the Valley. Friends may call at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown chapel Wednesday from 5-8:30 PM.
