George Edward Keifer Jr.

Funeral services will be 11 am Thursday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes Austintown Chapel for George Edward Keifer who passed away Friday evening at Caprice Health Care Center. George was born May 20, 1943 in Warren a son of the late George Edward and Mary (Compel) Keifer Sr. He was a mechanical engineer, retiring in December 2004 from WCI Steel after 42 years. George was a devout follower of the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, loved music and songwriting, and played the guitar and piano. While living in Colorado, he founded Harvest Holdings, a music ministry outreach for young children and teaching them guitar and song writing. In the 1960's he was a member of the music group LTD's, he was a member of AHEPA, served as Past President of the Howland Athletic Club and was an avid baseball fan. George will be sadly missed by his three children: George Edward (Mary Ann) Keifer III of Boardman; Alicia (Greg) Was of Lordstown and William Benjamin Keifer of Ellsworth; one brother John (Mary) Keifer of Athens; one sister Jackie Reeves of Warren and two granddaughters: Amber and Kaycee. Friends may call from 6 pm until 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
