George W Addicott

August 22, 1918 — April 30, 2017

George W Addicott, Sr, 98, has gone home to the Lord and his beloved wife, Ann. He passed in his sleep shortly before midnight on Sunday, April 30th, 2017 in the Critical Care Center at UPMC Horizon in Farrell, PA, and was a current resident of Garden Way Place, Hermitage, PA. George was born on August 22, 1918 in Sharon, PA, a son of the late Glenn Thomas and Mary Louise (Hassell) Addicott. He attended Sharon High School and retired as a Supervisor from Sawhill Tubular Products in West Middlesex, PA. In 1942, he was drafted for military service, but the plant refused to release him, stating that they needed him more. He was a dedicated worker and never missed a day. After advertising only once in the local newspaper, in the 1950's, he opened a doll hospital in his garage and continued this service for many years. He was a member of Brookfield United Methodist Church and also taught Sunday School. He was an honorary member of the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department and the last original Charter Member established in 1948. He was also a member of the Sawhill Retirees Association. George loved the Lord and will be remembered by his family and friends for his gentle ways, and the hymns he sang wherever he went. George will be deeply missed by his children, David (Sylvia) Addicott of Masury, George (Constance) Addicott, Jr of Wellington, FL, Jeffrey (Alexis) Addicott of Sharon, PA, and Ronald (Donna) Addicott of Gibsonville, NC; his grandchildren, Brian David (Gizelle) Addicott of Alameda, CA, Traci Lee Addicott of Key West, FL, George W. (Randi Marie)Addicott, III of Knoxville, TN, Charles Michael Addicott of Wellington, FL, Jeffrey Paul (Stacey) Addicott, Jr of Springfield, IL, Jennifer Ann Addicott of Riverview, FL, Adrienne (Ron) Addicott Achenbach of Hubbard, OH, Nicole Addicott Yanos of Susanville, CA, Justin Craig (Kristy) Addicott of Pittsburgh, PA, and Gina Yen Feng Addicott of Gibsonville, NC; eleven (11) great grandchildren; three (3) great-great grand children; his brothers, Glenn, Daniel and Claude; and his sisters, Carol Lang, Linda Marie, and Margaret Hermann. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Marie (Kershner) Addicott , whom he married on September 14, 1940 and passed away on June 13, 2009; his sister, Evelyn Addicott Sparks, and his brother Bill Addicott. Friends may visit from 5-8 pm at Lane Funeral Home's Madasz Chapel in Brookfield on Sunday, May 7, 2017 and from 10-11 am on Monday, May 8, 2017 with funeral services starting at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Brookfield Township Cemetery where he will be buried next to his wife. Friends and family may send their heartfelt condolences by visiting www.madaszchapel.com ; and the family suggests in lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department.
