George W. Weamer, 76, left this earthly life on August 24, 2017 and now is surrounded by family and friends as he enjoys eternal life and his father in Heaven. George was born on August 19, 1941 to the late George and Helen (Rotar) Weamer in Youngstown. He was a devoted husband to his wife Sherry for 55 years. George worked in retail most of his life until the economic crunch in the 80's when he changed careers and became an EMT and eventually became part of the management team for a local ambulance company. Upon retirement, he began what he often said was his favorite job, caring for all three of his granddaughters. He instilled in them a devotion to family, a reverence to God, and a love of reading, among many others. His loving care and knowledge during their pre-school years gave them all a tremendous, loving foundation on which to build their lives. George had many passions in life, including but not limited to, his God, his church, his family, books, music, nature, lists and charts, the newspaper, and his beloved Cleveland Indians. He was a graduate of Western Reserve High School, and a member of the Ellsworth Community Church since 1950, where he served as Clerk of Session and choir director over the years. He was a volunteer for the Ellsworth Fire Department and was Boy Scout leader Troop #71 for many years. George is survived by his wife Sherry (Foster), his daughter Kriss Yeager and husband Todd, and son Scott and wife Karen, all of Ellsworth. His three beloved granddaughters who will cherish and carry his legacy forward are: Paige and McKenzie Yeager, and Abigail Weamer. He will also be deeply missed by his brother Roy (Carol) of Struthers, and uncle Don Rotar of Liberty, sister in law Kathy Weamer of Virginia and many brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. George was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert. Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, September 1, from 4-7PM and Saturday, September 2, 10-11AM at the Ellsworth Community Church. The funeral service will begin at 11:00AM on Saturday. George will be buried at Ellsworth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ellsworth Community Church.
