Gerald Lee “Jerry” Hanna, 95 of Canfield passed away at his home on Sunday morning, March 3, 2024. Jerry was born March 6, 1928 in Atwater, a son of the late Arthur and Austie (Hines) Hanna and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Salem High School in 1947 and was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.
Jerry was an Inspector/Coordinator for General Motors, Lordstown Plant for 23 years, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed camping and was a member of the Ohio Penn Traveler’s Club. He looked forward to traveling to FL and had wintered in Kissimmee, FL for 33 years. While in FL he had worked for Disney as a cashier for 10 years. Jerry was a member of Canfield Christian Church where he served as an Elder and was a member of Local Union 1112.
He leaves his wife of 71 years, the former Dolores M. “Dory” Shears, whom he married October 5, 1952; two sons, Terry (Amy) Hanna of Orlando, FL, Timmy Hanna of Canfield; one daughter, Debbie Reynolds of Canfield; a son-in-law, Ron Mortimer of PA; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Jerry also leaves his sister, Sandy (Paul) Williamson of Fort Myers, FL. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeri Kay Mortimer; a brother, R. Gene Hanna and a sister, Clara Lou Wheeler.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his caretakers, “Care Angels” and Crossroads Hospice for their wonderful care. Private services will be held for the family per Jerry’s wishes.
