Grace J. Katcher

Private services will be held for Grace J. "Kelly" Katcher, 94, of Youngstown, who passed away Tuesday, January 1, at Austinwoods Care Center with her children by her side. Kelly, as she was known, was born June 24, 1924 in Youngstown the daughter of Raphael and Luisa (Patrone) Pallante. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and had worked as a cook for Profit Foods, a division of Greyhound Bus and General Motors. Besides being a member of the church, Kelly was also a member of the Saxon Club. She was a fantastic cook and loved entertaining. Kelly also loved dancing and was well known throughout the area for her dancing skills during the big band era. Her husband Edward J. Katcher Sr., whom she married September 15, 1945, passed away August 18, 1996. Kelly leaves two children, Edward J. Katcher Jr. of Austintown and Marie Newhouse of Northfield, one grandson, Jon E. (Liz) Newhouse, and two great grandsons, Jakob E. and Jordan E. Newhouse. Besides her parents and husband, Kelly was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Andrew Pallante, and two sisters, Jane Wojtowicz and Phyllis LaRubbio.
