Gwenneth "Sis" Confoey

Gwenneth "Sis" Baringer Confoey, 85 Gwenneth "Sis" Baringer Confoey, 85 of Berlin Center died Monday afternoon. Gwenneth, known as "Sis" was born November 25, 1933 at the family farm in Berlin Center, the fourth child of the late Foster and Gladys (Mock) Baringer and was a lifelong area resident. Her three brothers could not pronounce Gwenneth, so they called her "Sis", and it stuck all her life. Sis enjoyed gardening, home canning and freezing goodies out of the garden, making pickles, cooking, crafts and genealogy. Her favorite thing to do was to mow the lawn. She started in 1962 with a Gravely Model "L" & Sulky, then in 1976 she moved up to a Kubota L175 which she still mowed with last August. Sis was a member of the Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, the Mahoning County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society and the North East Ohio Forestry Association. She leaves her husband, George H. Confoey, whom she married February 14, 1954; her son, Gary L. Confoey of Berlin Center; Besides her parents, Sis was preceded in death by three brothers, Calvin Baringer, Randall Baringer, and Eldon "Hump" Baringer, Private services were held per her wishes. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel.
