Harold Thomas Russell

Harold T. Russell, Jr. of McKinley Heights, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 11:10 a.m. in Autumn Hills Care Center following a two week battle with cancer. He was 67 years old. Affectionately know by his family and friends as "String Bean", Harold was born on November 4, 1942 in Saxton, Pennsylvania the son of the late Harold T. and Mary (Dean) Russell, Sr. Harold retired from the General Motors Lordstown Plant where he was an assembler for 32 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #1476 of Niles, the ITAM, VFW Post, S.O.I, The Central Social Club, Moose Lodge #186 of Niles and Shorty's Sportmen's Club of Warren. He was an avid Harley Davidson Motorcylce rider and enjoyed riding in annual poker runs each year. He also enjoyed old cars and hunting. Most especially, Harold enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Harold is survived by his wife Jacqueline "Jackie" M. Holt whom he married on November 3, 1998 and with whom he spent more than 28 years of life; four children Audrey (Lee) Sykes of Kalama, WA, Julie Russell of Everglades City, FL, Cassie Kovach of Masury and Brian (Krystina) Russell of Niles; five sisters Dollie Dodson of Niles, Bonnie (Gary) Fanus of Elizabethtown, PA, Devina Abrashoff of Shirleyburg, PA, Genafe (Will) Heath of Mt. Union, PA and Judy (Jim) Cameneti of Cortland; two brothers David (Sherri) Russell of Niles and Charles Miller of Woodbury, PA; and seven grandchildren. Besides his parents, "String Bean" was preceded in death by a sister Shirley Russell. Calling hours will take place on Monday, June 7, 2010 from 5 until 8 p.m. in the Lane Funeral Home Niles Chapel, 415 Robbins Ave, Niles, OH, 44446, where a funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Kerr Cemetery, Weathersfield Township.
