Harry R. Krieger, of Youngstown, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman. He was 86 years old. Mr. Krieger was born on May 11, 1924 in Niles, Ohio the son of the late Harry and Irene (Robinson) Krieger. A Veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Krieger was a Lieutenant and served in Europe during World War II. Mr. Krieger retired from Metal Carbides Inc. where he worked as director of purchasing and traffic. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Austintown and the Salem Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and traveling. Most of all, Mr. Krieger enjoyed the time that he shared with his family. Mr. Krieger was married on September 17, 1945 to the former Jean Loney and she preceded him in death on February 4, 1997. Mr. Krieger is survived by four children Fritz (Elody) Krieger of Columbus, Kevin (Maribeth) Krieger of Austintown, Therese Krieger and her husband Gordon Ziols of Chicago, Illinois and John (Linda) Krieger of Moreland Hills; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Krieger was preceded in death by two sisters Virginia Morgan and Joan Masterson. Calling hours for Mr. Krieger will take place on Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave, Austintown, Ohio 44515. Services will begin on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 9:20 a.m. with closing prayers to be recited in the funeral home and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 4545 New Road, Austintown, Ohio 44515, with Fr. Gregory Fedor as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Mr. Krieger's name to Catholic Charities c/o Diocese of Youngstown, 144 W. Wood St. Youngstown, Ohio 44503.
