Herbert H. Pridham, Esquire

Herbert H. Pridham, Esquire Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Lane Family Funeral Home, 65 N. Broad Street, Canfield Chapel for Herbert H. Pridham, 89 of Massillon, formerly of Canfield, who died Monday evening at The Inn at University Village Assisted Living. Herbert was born March 4, 1929 in Youngstown, a son of the late Evan and Ethel (Stone) Pridham and graduated from Boardman High School. Herbert graduated from Youngstown College and received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Case Western Reserve University. He served as the Deputy Attorney for Judge Clifford Woodside, Mahoning County Courts. He then joined The Dollar Savings and Trust Company where he rose to Senior Vice-President and Senior Trust Officer of the trust department retiring in 1992. Herbert then became the Director of the Youngstown Foundation, the largest community trust in Youngstown. He also served of Counsel to the law firm of Roth, Blair, Roberts and Co. He was a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Mahoning County Bar Association. Herbert was a former member of the Youngstown Rotary Club where he served as director and recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award. He enjoyed singing and often led the Rotarians in their group singing. He served as chairman of their annual Youngstown Charity Horse Show held at the Canfield Fairgrounds. He was an avid horseman and had maintained horses at a stable in Liberty Township. He frequently traveled to the Lexington and Louisville horse shows. Herbert served as trustee of the Stambaugh Auditorium Association, the Monday Musical Club, the Easter Seals of Youngstown, the International Institute, the Butler Institute of American Art and the Mahoning Valley Historical Society. He was a lifetime friend of Ann Kilcawley Christman and he was instrumental in creating the Ann Kilcawley Christman charitable trust which annually distributes over 1.5 million dollars to local charities. Herbert was a member of the Western Star #21 F & AM, the Grand Lodge of Ohio, the Aut Mori Grotto and the Youngstown Club. He was an avid gardner and enjoyed sitting on his back portch on Overbrook Drive amid all of his flowers, listening to the birds. Besides his former wife, Nancy, he leaves his daughter, Tracy (Craig) Howell of Hartville; a son, Brian (Ann) Pridham of Niceville, Florida and his granddaughter, Danielle Howell. Besides his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by a brother, Evan Pridham. Friends may call on Saturday at Lane Family Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to thank Shelley Sorg for her years of tender care, love, and support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to the Youngstown Rotary Foundation or to Crossroads Hospice in Herbert's memory.
