Irene Adele Garland

Funeral services celebrating the life of Irene Adele (Fusco) Garland will be held at 11 AM Monday, August 7, 2017 at Mineral Ridge Church of Christ. Irene went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Hospice House. She was born January 21, 1931 in Youngstown the daughter of Anthony and Florence (James) Fusco. She was a graduate of The Rayen School, class of 1949. Her husband of 58 years, William E. Garland, whom she married April 8, 1951, passed away November 18, 2009. Irene retired May 13, 1994 from the Austintown School System where she worked in the cafeteria for 24 years. She was a member of Mineral Ridge Church of Christ, where she was involved in Women Working for Christ, a member of Kum Double Class and was a Deaconess. Irene cherished the Senior Citizens Small Group Bible Study she belonged to. Irene's enjoyed cooking and doing things with her grandchildren. Most of all Irene enjoyed going to the beach with her grandchildren. Irene leaves 5 children, Bill (Cathy Garland of Mineral Ridge, Donna (Doug) "Sis" Gilkerson of Columbus, Jeff Garland, her caregiver, of Austintown, Kay (Doug) Bryan of Mt. Gilead, OH, and John Garland of Austintown, one brother, John (Grace) Fusco, 7 grandchildren, D.J. (Sarah) Fisher, Larry (Liz) Fisher, April (Eric) Keever, Alan Bryan, Ashlee Bryan, Katie (Chad) Morris, and Sarah (Nick) Serb, as well as 8 great grandchildren, Faith, Christian, Grace, Thomas, Eli, Jasmine, and Malachi Fisher, and baby Morris. Irene also leaves 3 nephews, John (Kelly) Fusco, Bob (Lora) Fusco, and Mike (Dayna) Fusco, and 6 great nieces and nephews, Thad, Ryan, Andrew, Lucas, Isabella and Sophia. Irene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM Sunday, August 6th,, at the Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel, and again on Monday August 7th from 10 to 11 AM at the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ, where services will begin at 11 AM.
