Jacqueline Burks

It breaks our hearts to say our mother, Jacqueline "Jackie" (Pettit) Burks, passed on March 22, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her family. Born April 9, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Florence (Mackin) Bush and John Pettit. Jackie was a 1955 graduate of Boardman High School. She married her childhood neighbor and friend Robert H. Burks; most recently celebrating 61 years of marriage on Valentines Day. Prior to retirement Jackie was a case manager for Jobs and Family Services, working in Youngstown, Cincinnati, and Canton. Jackie was an avid sports fan, and would always cheer on her Cleveland teams, even making it to their most recent World Series. Jackie was thoughtful and generous and made friends wherever she went. What she loved most was spending time with her family. Hallmark truly lost their best customer. She is survived by her husband, Robert and her five children; Robert Scott Burks of Cincinnati, Rebecca Burks Trgovac (Thomas) of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Eric Burks (Jody) of Safety Harbor, Florida, Brian Burks (Monica) of Cincinnati, and Beverly Burks Varga (Dan) of Palm Harbor, Florida; eight grandchildren Brandon, Bethany, Taylor, Karleigh, Cory, Kyle, Eric, and Donnie. Also survived are two sisters Beverly Dick of Florida and Judi Etheridge of Kansas. The family will receive relatives and friends on March 25, 2019 at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel from 5:00- 7:00 PM and March 26, 2019 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held March 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley in Jackies name. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to all of Jackies caregivers.
