James C. White, 76, of Niles passed away Wednesday evening at Autumn Hills in Niles. James was born October 14, 1941 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late William White and Margaret Harmson White. James was raised by his grandparents Esther and Robert White along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. James was a 1959 Mineral Ridge graduate. Prior to retirement he worked as a Die Setter for General Motors for 32 years. James was the proud owner and proprietor of White Racing with the popular car #53. He was also a partner of the AMVETS #106 in Niles. He enjoyed NASCAR, stock car racing in E-mod division at Sharon speedway, bluegrass music and bluegrass festivals. Dancing and singing along with friends at the Amvets. He enjoyed spending time in his garage building stock Cars and fabricating just about anything with his hands. Hes been a hard worker, if not tinkering, his entire life. Spending time with family and friends, always held true to his heart. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his children, James White and Sherri White of Niles; brother, Ronald (Judy) White of Florida, and his grandson, Samuel Pownell of Kent. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his former wife Marilyn White Steventon, whom he married October 1962 and died January 17, 2001. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel.
