James Centofanti of Canfield passed away Tuesday morning at the Hospice House in Poland. James was born October 1, 1920 in Sulmona Italy the son of Camillo and Anna Centofanti and came to this country as a young boy. A WWII Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Jim was a successful business owner, philanthropist and horseman. He was a long-time member of the Board of Directors of Farmers National Bank in Canfield retiring in 1997. He was very generous in supporting numerous educational and recreational activities in and around the Canfield area. Over the years, Jim received numerous awards for his humanitarian efforts. Jim is survived by his son David (Kelly) Centofanti of Canfield and two sisters; Mary (Tony) Centofanti and Lillian Armeni as well as a brother Joseph (Marsha) Centofanti and four grandchildren: Brent, Nicole, Cory and Kyle. Jim also leaves four nieces; Sandra (Ben) Maxium, Loretta (Troy) Whitehurst, Deena (Keith) Stironek and Camille (Kyle) Franzen and two nephews; Joey Centofanti and James (Lorrie) Armeni. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Coralie Centofanti who passed away on December 28, 1999. Friends and family may call on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel as well as from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Saturday. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Salem.
