James D. Dorn, 90 Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, 65 N. Broad Street, Canfield Chapel for James D. Dorn, 90 of Salem who died Friday afternoon at Courtyard at Lexington Assisted Living in Salem. James was born September 5, 1927, in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late Anson and Doris (Dunham) Dorn and came to this area as a child. He graduated from Boardman High School in 1945 where he excelled in track, and held those records for many years. After graduation he enlisted and served in the United States Army. He worked at Allied Chemical from 1949-1970 and then worked as a foreman for Koppers Co. for 17 years, retiring in 1987. James was a long time member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Salem and was an avid hunter. His wife, the former Muriel S. Hooper, whom he married November 15, 1948, died July 8, 2017. He leaves three sons, David (Jo-Ann) Dorn of St. Augustine, Florida, Edward Dorn of Massachusetts, Thomas (Julie) Dorn of Columbiana; one daughter, Diana DeJane of Hanoverton; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and his wife, James was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Dorn, Robert Dorn and Gene Dorn.
