Champion– James E. Scott, 78, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday evening, March 3, 2020.
James was born on August 17, 1941 in Garfield Heights, son of the late Robert and Margaret Scott.
He was a graduate of Garfield Heights High School and a proud veteran of the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he worked at Packard Electric until he retired. In addition to working at Packard Electric, he owned and operated a fishing charter business for 20 years. He loved being outdoors, boating, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, “playing his tickets” and winning Keno. His most treasured time was spent with his family who he loved dearly.
James, or as others knew him as Scott, will always be remembered by his quick humor, orneriness, and charismatic persona. His memory will be forever missed by his children, Mark (Kathy) Huston of Cortland, Tracy (Gary) Newsome of Warren, Christine Scott Miterko of Champion, Margaret Scott of Champion, and Marilyn (Jay) Hunziker of IN; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Terry (Robin) Scott, Bill (Leslie) Scott, and Tom (Ronna) Scott; sisters, Sister Marilyn Scott and Patricia Monczewski. He also leaves behind an extended family, Megan Testa Moss, Kyle Testa, and Nicholas Testa; 3 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Scott and Phillip “Tony” Scott and brother in law Tom Monczewski.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday March 12, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 232 Seneca Ave. Warren, OH 44481.
