WARREN-James F. Dougherty, Jr., 72, passed away Tuesday morning at his residence. Jim was born May 3, 1946 in Warren, a son of James F. and Thelma Rose McCue Dougherty, Sr. He was a Lead Roll Grinder with Thomas Steel Strip in Warren for over 40 years, retiring in 2008. Jim was a 1965 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy. Jim was a member of St. Stephens Church and attended St. Marys Church. Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 4484. He was a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts, Troop No. 83 in Warren. He also drove the instrument truck and called Bingo games for the Warren Junior Military Band. Jim was a "Master Carpenter", he could build just about anything. Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Barbara J. Potkay, whom he married August 31, 1968; his sons, James M. (Tonya) Dougherty and Michael D. (Heidi) Dougherty both of Warren and his grandson, James "Cole" Dougherty. Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Edward J. Dougherty. Friends will be received at the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Mineral Ridge Chapel on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary Church in Mineral Ridge on Monday, January 14 at 10:30 a.m., where friends may call from 9:30-10:15 a.m. prior to the Mass.
